With over 27 years of diverse experience in the energy sector, Matthew stands as a seasoned professional with a remarkable track record. His journey spans various facets of the industry, from wells, asset management, projects to strategic planning and transformational leadership.
His strategic planning and execution prowess have left an indelible mark. He has successfully orchestrated drilling, completions, and interventions across global locations. His leadership extends to major projects, where he has seamlessly guided wells-related activities from pre-investment screening to flawless execution. Notably, his commitment to excellence has earned him recognition and awards for production excellence.
Matthew’s expertise isn’t confined to routine operations. He has masterfully designed, planned and executed high-rate gas wells exceeding 250mmscfd, HPHT wells in deepwater and onshore, water injection wells in soft sands, and oil wells. His ability to translate field development plans into actionable steps underscores his impact on the industry. His field development experiences include those the GOM, Caribbean, Asia Pac, Europe and Angola.
Matthew’s vision extends beyond day-to-day operations. As a transformational leader, he has spearheaded initiatives aimed at optimizing spending efficiency and delivery effectiveness. His ability to manage integrated global teams — navigating technical, operational, financial, legal, HSSE, and commercial aspects of the hydrocarbon value chain — sets him apart. Moreover, his innovative mindset has led to the design of intricate technological solutions that propel the energy sector forward.
Matthew’s influence extends to joint ventures (JVs) across the hydrocarbon value chain. He has created and led JVs spanning multiple countries, including field developments, pipeline networks, LNG plants, shipping fleets, regasification infrastructure, and marketing. His holistic approach involves developing JV strategies, identifying business opportunities, and skillfully managing government interactions, stakeholder agreements, and all facets of joint venture operations.
He has an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Rice University in Houston, Texas. VARUNE MAHARAJ
Varune has over 24 years of Wells experience from all around the globe, with over 17 years consulting across a range of differently sized Operators, from NOCs and smaller-sized / start-ups to large multinationals, working from shallow to ultra-deepwater environments.
He brings years of offshore leadership experience to the company, working on jack-up, tender-assist, semi-submersible and single & dual-activity drillships, and well as onshore management roles in Engineering and Operations. His academic and professional credentials includes post-graduate degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Subsea Engineering, and holds Chartered Engineer status with both the UK Engineering Council and Energy Institute.
Over his career, Varune has actively sought out new and challenging projects where he could apply his diversified expertise to enable results that exceed expectations. His track record demonstrates a commitment to excellence in managing complex campaigns, ensuring safety standards, and achieving operational efficiency. His analytical skills, strategic thinking, and ability to adapt to changing dynamics, combined with experience in overseeing engineering and / or operations, leading cross-functional teams, and fostering a culture of innovation makes him well-equipped to drive business growth, market expansion, and competitive advantages.
He has taken personal pride in consistently bringing value to his clientele by clear, measurable efficiencies that result in tangible differences to the bottom line. He has led multi-well programs from the coal-face as well as from the office, saving from US $20+ Million in AFE costs across shorter campaigns to as much as over US $1.2 Billion over a 4-year campaign.
